American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines,has started nonstop service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) texas and Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport (SPI) in Springfield, Ill. American Eagle operate flights with 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 jets.

"air travelers departing from Springfield will soon have new and more extensive route options," said U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) "The decision by American Airlines to operate direct flights from Springfield to Dallas/Fort Worth, its largest national hub, is good news for air travelers, tourists, and local businesses. I'm grateful for American's continued commitment to Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. This new service will allow air travelers to more easily connect to the airline's extensive network of flights around the country, particularly in the Southeast and Southwest regions, and around the world."

"We're delighted to introduce this new service to the Illinois state capital," said Dan Garton, President and CEO of American Eagle. "These two daily flights will not only allow business travelers from Springfield to make an easy day trip to Dallas/Fort Worth, but will link Central Illinois with American's largest hub, offering convenient connections throughout American's global network."
