Travel opportunities to and from “The Big Apple and the rest of the United States have been improved significantly today, as Delta Air Lines, the world’s biggest airline, opens a new service to one of the country’s key hubs, JFK, New York.
Delta increases accessibility to the Americas
Delta Airlines already operates a direct service between Copenhagen and its other hub in Atlanta. With 200 destinations out of Atlanta and JFK alone to North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, the new service increases connections to attractive destinations for the benefit of tourism as well as the business community.
“Copenhagen is currently the most important destination without non-stop flight services to New York JFK. We are therefore pleased to be able to complement our existing service to Atlanta with a new service connecting Copenhagen with the financial centre of the United States, which will strengthen both business and tourism in the two regions, said Jeffrey Lobl, VP, Network Planning, Delta Air Lines.
Copenhagen’s position as the hub of Scandinavia is being strengthened on several fronts
Copenhagen’s position as the hub of Scandinavia is not only being strengthened by the new service to JFK. This year alone, a non-stop service has already opened to Doha, and new services to Toronto and Cairo are coming up.
“At CPH we are very pleased to welcome the first new transatlantic service in more than three years. After some tough years, we are pleased to welcome another three intercontinental services in 2010 alone, namely Air Canada to Toronto, Qatar Airways to Doha and Egypt Air to Cairo said Brian Petersen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports, continuing:
“New intercontinental services are very important to our position as the leading traffic hub of Scandinavia and to our opportunities of offering the best connections in Scandinavia. With seven non-stop routes, Copenhagen Airport now offers the best connections to North America out of Scandinavia. We are pleased to see this new service strengthen the hub position of Copenhagen Airport and thus improve accessibility to the American markets through Delta’s many onward connections.
