Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Paul Donovan said the additional service is indicative of strong passenger numbers. “This additional service is not only great news for Gold Coast inbound and outbound tourism but for the tourism industry generally. The service links the contrasts of the beaches and outback in Queensland to the tropics of Darwin in one easy flight.
“The service has proven to be popular, with many Gold Coasters embracing the opportunity to explore the vastly different regions, and we applaud Airnorth for responding to passenger demand with this additional service,” Mr Donovan said. “We have also seen this service be embraced by the business sector, with many people in the local community able to take up employment and business opportunities in both Mount Isa and Darwin as a result of the Airnorth service. “An additional service each week will provide even more flexibility for these business travellers,” Mr Donovan said.
